Tasting courses, conventions, stands, viewings and gastronomic events with organic products; this is the frame of Biolmiel, the first international competition for the best organic honey to be held in Castelbuono (PA) from 4 to 7 December. The Biol Award model – the international event for the best organic extra virgin olive oil in the world now at its 14th edition – has also been used for the honey competition; the honey sector is a current topic because, by the way, connected with the slow vanishing of bees, first of all, due to the use of agricultural pesticides.

The programme is ready: 4 and 5 December, the international Jury board will convene from 11.00 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 4, 5 and 6, the introduction course of the honey tasting will take place from 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.; 6 December, from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., the convention on “Organic Apiculture : problems and perspectives”, followed by Biolmiel Awarding Ceremony; at the end 6 and 7 December, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Castelbuono old town will host the market exhibition of organic products with organic honey tasting.

The registrations are now closed (the gathering, the evaluation and the selections of honeys by CRA : 90 the honeys in competition, coming also from abroad (Croatia, Slovenia, Moldavia, Egypt , Spain, Albania and Hawaii). A very good result for a competition at its first edition. Among all participants the international jury board will award many prizes.
